Xiongan surveys cultural heritage items amid construction

  The administrative committee of Xiongan New Area is carrying out a survey of tangible and immovable intangible cultural heritage items that its residents think are worth protecting, Xinhua reported on Feb. 21. So far, the committee has documented 592 immovable cultural items and 345 sites that are feasible to relocate, including old houses, old wells, old trees, rural health centers, cemeteries of revolutionary martyrs and ancient craftsmanship.

Hebei to push development of Xiongan New Area with rollout of key projects in 2018

  Wide-ranging efforts on areas including transportation and environmental protection will be pushed forward to build the Xiongan New Area, according to the Hebei Development and Reform Commission. Xiongan New Area is a new economic zone near Beijing designed to integrate the capital with surrounding areas. According to the Hebei provincial government, it plans to roll out a slew of key projects this year including high-speed railways, expressways, forestation work and environmental protection work at Baiyangdian Lake.

Archaeological findings show history of Xiongan

  BEIJING -- Archaeological findings have revealed Xiongan, a newly established economic zone, as an area with around 7,000 years of human history. Xiongan, about 100 km southwest of Beijing, is the third of its kind nationally after Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and Shanghai Pudong New Area. It is expected to relieve pressure on Beijing resulting from non-capital functions, to explore a new paradigm of development in densely-populated areas and to renovate the urban layout in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Hebei channels funding through Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cooperation

  Hebei Province, which neighbors Beijing, obtained 250 billion yuan (38 billion US dollars) of funding in 2017 through the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional cooperation mechanism. Sources with the provincial development and reform work meeting held earlier this week said the province drew funding from Beijing and Tianjin through 3,000 projects for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in transportation, ecology and industry. The provincial development and reform commission said building transportation networks, including highways, high-speed railways and airport construction, is the basis of coordinated regional development.

Zhongguancun steps into Xiongan New Area

  Agreement for cooperation between Zhongguancun Science Park and Xiongan New Area, North China's Hebei province, to build a science park in the new area, was reached on Dec 29. In April, China announced plans to establish the Xiongan New Area as a new economic zone about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing. It covers Hebei's Xiongxian, Rongcheng and Anxin counties.
